|I agree that dropping a YB in would be an easy route to take, but I don’t want the on/off chrematistics of a small capacity highly tuned turbo engine, and I can’t fit a rover V8 as it’s roughly the same size as the LS1. My aim is a large capacity NA engine for consistent power delivery and good, consistent levels of grunt.
I’m going to press on with the Pug lump, as I’m sure that’ll provide enough entertainment to get me started. It revs well as standard, and it’s short stroke and generous port and valve sizes means that there’s definitely some tuning potential there. It’s as close to ideal as I can hope for, so I’ll build it up, and see how I get on.
I’m hoping to spend the weekend on the car, so it should have progressed a whole load more by Monday!
